As a Senior User Experience Designer at Google, Timothy J. Hykes brings a wealth of experience and passion to the team. With an Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Design from Saint Louis Community College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Missouri - St. Louis, Tim has a strong foundation in design principles and user experience.
Tim's passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the design industry is evident in his volunteer work with AIGA St. Louis, where he held various leadership positions and was a member of the national Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. He also co-founded the Design + Diversity Conference and podcast, which brings attention to diversity issues in the design community.
Tim has a diverse background in UX design, having worked at a variety of companies including Answers.com, Spoke Marking, HLK, RoverTown, LaunchCode, Wells Fargo Advisors, and Allen Edmonds at Caleres. He has also worked as a UX consultant at World Wide Technology, where he helped companies improve their usability.
Currently, Tim is an Interaction Designer at Google, working on the Google for Jobs product. He is dedicated to helping people find meaningful employment. In addition, Tim is notable for his side project, The 28 Days of Black Designer Project, which features 28 Black designers from various design disciplines, and has been featured on social media platforms with large followings. Tim's commitment to diversity and his wealth of experience make him a valuable asset to the Google team.
